Cookie Policy
This website uses Google advertising and Google Analytics, which set cookies in your browser. This policy explains which cookies those are, how to control them, and what the module demos store locally on your device.
Overview
This Cookie Policy explains how the website at potenz.tech (the "Site") uses cookies and similar technologies.
The short version: we set no cookies of our own — none for preferences, and none for session management, because the Site has nothing to remember about you. Cookies are set here by Google, for two purposes: advertising, which pays for the Site, and analytics, which tells us which pages get read. Those are the only cookies involved, they belong to Google rather than to us, and the controls for them are listed below.
The Site does use one related technology — your browser's local storage — to remember the changes you make inside the module demonstrations. That is explained in full below.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and then sends back to that website on subsequent requests. Cookies are what allow sites to keep you signed in, remember a shopping basket, or — most commonly — to recognise and profile you across visits and across other websites for analytics and advertising.
Cookies this Site uses
We set none of our own. Taking the usual categories in turn:
- Strictly necessary cookies. Not used. The Site has no accounts, no sign-in, and no server-side sessions to maintain.
- Preference cookies. Not used. The Site stores no display or language preference.
- Analytics cookies. Used, and set by Google Analytics rather than by us. They let Google recognise a single visit across several pages, so that our reports count readers rather than page loads.
- Advertising and measurement cookies. Used, and set by Google rather than by us. Google uses them to choose which ad to show, to limit how often you see the same one, to detect invalid clicks, and to measure whether an ad performed.
You can inspect this for yourself: open your browser's developer tools and look under Storage or Application. The cookies you find there are listed against Google domains rather than against ours, which is precisely why we are unable to read them — a site can only read cookies set on its own domain.
Third-party cookies and embedded content
Google is the one third party that sets cookies through this Site, through the advertising script loaded from googlesyndication.com and the analytics script loaded from googletagmanager.com. Making those requests lets Google see your IP address, your browser and device characteristics, and the page you are viewing. Beyond that, the Site loads no third-party tags, pixels, chat widgets, comment systems, maps, or embedded video players.
Web fonts are worth a specific mention, since they are a common hidden source of third-party requests. The fonts used on this Site are downloaded at build time and served from our own domain, so displaying this page sends no request to any font provider and sets no cookie from one.
Analytics cookies in detail
We use Google Analytics 4 to count how many people read each page. Its cookies exist to recognise that several page views belong to one visit, so that our reports describe readers rather than raw page loads.
What we see is aggregate: visits per page, per country, per day. We have not enabled user-ID tracking or Google signals, so the reports do not identify you, and we make no attempt to work out who an individual reader is.
To switch analytics off, install Google's official opt-out add-on from tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or block cookies for this Site. Both work, and neither breaks anything here.
Advertising on this Site
This Site is funded by advertising supplied through Google AdSense. We decide to carry advertising; we do not choose the individual ads you are shown, and we have no relationship with the advertisers behind them.
Advertising does not appear on every page. It is limited to pages carrying substantial written content; the module demonstrations, the data-entry screens, and the error pages show no advertising and set no advertising cookies.
Advertising can be personalised or non-personalised. Personalised ads are chosen partly from what Google has inferred about your interests, including from your activity on other sites that also carry Google advertising. Non-personalised ads are chosen from the content of the page and your approximate location, and still use cookies for frequency capping, fraud detection, and measurement.
Google acts as an independent controller of the information it collects here, not as a supplier processing data on our behalf. That has a practical consequence worth stating plainly: we cannot access that data, we cannot tell you which ads you were shown, and we cannot delete it on your behalf. The controls below go to Google directly, which is why they work.
- Google My Ad Center, at myadcenter.google.com, is the main control. You can turn personalised advertising off entirely, and adjust or delete the interest categories Google associates with you.
- Google explains what it collects from sites that carry its advertising at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Industry opt-out pages at aboutads.info/choices and, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu cover a broad set of advertising vendors at once.
- Blocking third-party cookies in your browser settings prevents these cookies from being set at all. Everything on this Site, including every module demonstration, keeps working if you do.
Local storage used by the module demos
Local storage is a browser feature that lets a site save data on your device. Unlike a cookie, it is never automatically transmitted to a server — it can only be read by code running on the page you are visiting.
Several module demonstrations let you create, edit, and delete sample records. So that your work is not lost when you refresh the page or come back later, those changes are written to local storage under keys belonging to this Site. This covers demos including finance, CRM, HR, inventory, procurement, manufacturing, and business intelligence.
This data stays on your device. It is never sent to us, never shared with a third party, and we have no way to read it. It contains only fictional demonstration records in any event.
Server logs
Separately from cookies, the servers that host this Site keep standard technical logs of requests, which may include IP address, browser type, and the page requested. These are generated by our hosting provider for security and reliability rather than for tracking. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.
How to clear or block local storage
You remain in full control of what this Site stores on your device. To clear the demo data:
- Use the reset control provided inside the module demonstrations, which clears that module's saved sample data.
- Chrome, Edge, or Brave: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Site data, then See all site data and permissions, then search for potenz.tech and delete it.
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data, then Manage Data, then search for potenz.tech and remove it.
- Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data, then search for potenz.tech and remove it.
- Any browser: browsing in a private or incognito window discards all local storage when you close the window.
- Google's cookies are cleared by the same site-data steps above, and are prevented altogether by blocking third-party cookies. To change what Google infers about you rather than merely clearing it, use Google My Ad Center; to switch analytics off everywhere, use Google's opt-out add-on. Both are linked in the sections above.
Blocking storage for this Site is safe. The demonstrations will still work; they will simply start from the original sample data each time you load a page.
Changes to this policy
If we change which cookies are set on this Site, or begin setting any of our own, we will update this policy before doing so and revise the date at the top of the page.
